Miss Treat's Sweet and Feisty Mesquite Seasoning
One of the two spices we have with a little sweetness added to compliment the natural sugars in the Mesquite Flour. Combined with coarse black pepper, cayenne, chili powder, garlic, cumin, onion and other seasonings that make up the base for our Southwest Seasonings it has a sweet and slightly feisty presonality.
Just like Miss Treat, a McNab Shepherd raised and trained by my brother (Burro Bob) she helped Mr. Trick, a Border Collie, care for 102 donkeys at a sanctuary for neglected, abused, ferral, or retired burros in Northern California.
When doing work like that, the ability to be both "Sweet and Fiesty" helps keep your teeth and ribs intact while on the job.
She currently works with my brother in law and sister standing guard, herding chickens, rousting racoons, jackin' deer, keepin' bears in line, and telling the dogs in Lake George what she thinks.
A versatile seasoning for raw or cooked veggies, fruits, and poultry. Customer favorite uses also include potato chips, popcorn, salads, rice, polenta, mashed potatos, and various dips.

Red Chile Mesquite Bean Southwest Seasoning
The New Mexico Red Chile in this seasoning is a perfect compliment to the sweet nutty flavor of the main ingredient which is 100% pure flour ground from wild harvested Mesquite Bean pods.
The spicy chile and pepper flavor one experiences when tasting the seasoning by itself, sprinkled on raw foods, or when applied after cooking is mellowed when used during the cooking process. The cooking heat releases natural sugars from the mesquite which take a lot of the peppery edge off, allowing the nutty earthy mesquite flavor to compliment the flavor of whatever protein or produce you put it on while still keeping a little kick that comes on nice and slow.
This versatility makes it a great all around seasoning for beef, pork, poultry, fish or eggs. For a little zing spread liberally on things such as fresh tomato, cucumber, cantaloupe, watermelon, salads, and my personal favorite, sweet corn covered in butter and seasoned to taste.
For a unique Southwest mesquite flavor use as a rub for smoking, grilling, roasting, or as a seasoning for anything that suits you from eggs to zucchini. Let your imagination run wild.

Green Chile Mesquite Bean Southwest Seasoning
Utilizing New Mexico Green Chile, renowned for it's exceptional combination of flavor and heat, makes it the perfect addition to the sweet nutty flavor of our Mesquite Flour.
The main ingredient of the Green Chile, Red Chile and Ms. Treats Sweet and Feisty seasonings is wild harvested Mesquite Bean Flour from our Southwestern Deserts. The Mesquite Bean Flour absorbs moisture and flavor from foods so that our seasonings can compliment their flavor and not overpower them. Our products are low sodium and gluten free so if you are not worried about the salt you can add a little to help enhance the flavor. The quality of our flour is what makes the big difference.
We hand pick our beans when they are ripe and pull easily from the plant or collect them after a big wind from tarps spread under the tree or bush the day before. Anything that hits the ground belongs to the many desert critters that utilize these beans as a major food source. That would be almost every warm blooded resident and some that aren't. When harvested correctly there is plenty to go around.
These sustainable practices limit the amount of quality product we have to offer and result in higher pricing as supplies dwindle. We also must limit very large orders in order to take care of existing customer needs at this time.

Mr. Tricky'sMesquite
Bean Bar-B-Que Rub
Our other seasoning with added sweetness and the only product we offer with Mesquite Flour not being the main ingredient. This is a Brown Sugar based BBQ rub that still contains 23% Mesquite Flour along with our other spices.
This spice was inspired by Trick, the border collie mentioned above. He was the original "Donkey Dog" raised and trained by Burro Bob. Now twelve years old and retired from the donkey gig, he has become the nicest old boy one could ever meet while still maintaining a strong "don't mess with me" personality. This is reserved for those ignorant enough to mistake his sweet disposition for weakness. After spending a decade dealing with Jack Asses, I would expect no less.
This same sweet disposition attracts little kids like flies to sugar. They come up, look at him, he smiles back, and then it is pat on head, stroke paws, look in ears, hug neck, kiss head and whatever else.
This is a sweet rub that is meant to be spread liberally over your favorite Pork, Poultry, Beef, Lamb, Whole Fish or other protein. Then cook low and slow in a smoker or over indirect heat on a grill so as not to scorch the sugars and create a nice sweet bark over the meat. If your meat is not done enough when the rub looks just right, wrap in foil and flip every 15 or 20 minutes until desired temperature and tenderness is achieved.
For grilling Steaks, Chops, Cutlets, Fillets and other smaller cuts, season before or after coating meat with melted Butter, Stock, Fruit Juice, Light Marinade, Olive Oil, Bacon Grease, or whatever else you like, then let rest for 15 or 20 minutes. I like seasoning before coating anything with oil or fat and after coating with juices, stocks and such. Then grill over appropriate heat for what you are cooking.
Then just like Mr. Tricky, you'll want to finish up with a belly rub after eating.
Life is good when done right.
It is with great sadness we let you know Tricky is no longer with us after 13 1/2 years as a very happy working dog. I think about him every time I see his smiling face on the container. He is very much missed by all who knew him.

100% Pure Mesquite Bean Flour
This is our Top Grade 100% pure Mesquite bean flour. Sustainably harvested and carefully processed in small batches. Gluten free and rich in dietary fiber, protein, and low-glycemic sugars, while containing significant quantities of calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, zinc, and the amino acid lysine.
A great flavor and nutrition additive to smoothies, oatmeal, soups, stews, sauces, gravy's, baked goods, casseroles, custards, or whatever else suits your fancy.
When using Mesquite Flour be aware of the harsh environment this plant thrived in.This flour will absorb moisture from a piece of rock if given enough time. When using in a batter, mix recipe like normal with Mesquite as an additive. Then let rest for a bit and increase liquid to compensate.
A good example is pancakes. Follow Bisquick recipe plus one tablespoon of Mesquite Flour for every ten pancakes. Let rest for 20 or 30 minutes and then add more of liquid ingredient to bring batter to the correct consistency. Another example, follow recipe on bag of Aunt Jemima for cornbread, plus 2 Tbls of Mesquite Flour and another 1/2 cup of milk. Let rest and bake according to directions.
Add to pot roasts, chili con carne, spaghetti sauce, broths and such to add a depth of earthy sweet nutty flavor.
As we like to say, let your imagination run wild.
